No Schmo 3

Sadly, it looks like there will not be a Joe Schmo 3. The ratings were simply not where spike wanted them to be. I have not heard anything about DVDs...but if I do I'll post it here

Joe Schmo 2 Finale

It is time for the very last episode of Joe Schmo 2!

We are reminded that this is the end…and that this is a sprint, not a long distance run. We are also reminded that Austin and Piper might choose each other rather than one of the cast.

The writers meet and we are told that the Joe Schmo show is both a parody of reality TV and a practical joke. They refresh us on a few basics about the show, such as the fact that it is a dating show. They also recap a few of the important scenes (such as the gift giving scene and the falcon twists). They also remind us that this show is a bit more absurd than Joe Schmo 1. We are also told about the problems they had with Ingrid (the first real girl). She suspected that things were strange from the very beginning. Finally they admitted that she was correct in suspecting the show, and turned her into an actress. They decided to bring in another real girl to replace her with Amanda.

They also remind us about a few of the other important scenes, such as the meet the parents scenes, Bryce (stalker) being evicted, the exciting coupon book scene, and of course the time when Eleanor (weeper) told Austin (bachelor) to shove the necklace up his ass. We are also reminded about the dead grandfather storyline. Next they review the Bryce storylines. They remind us about the eviction, the banners, his dead frog, and of course his killing of the falcon…which they used the justify bringing the evicted Tim (real guy) back to replace Bryce. Finally we are reminded yet again that Piper and Austin might choose each other instead of choosing one of the contestants.

It is now time for NEW stuff

The writers tell the cast that the desert for their meal of deceit is soon to be eaten.

We start out by seeing Tim (real guy), TJ (playa), and Amanda (real girl) hanging out talking about how they can prevent Austin (Bachelor) and Piper (Bachelorette) getting back together. Austin, Piper, and Ingrid (real girl turned actress) come out. Tim snaps at Austin some…clearly annoyed that he had been voted off by Austin. The host comes out and says that they will each get some one on one time with the bachelor and bachelorette to argue their case. Ingrid pulls out a resume and letter of recommendation which amuses Tim and Amanda. Amanda now gets to spend some alone time with Austin. She seems to like Austin, and says that she wants to spend time with him but she does not want to speak poorly about other girls because she does not feel that acting like that would be fair. Austin asks her if she is serious about him, or if she just wants to have a good time on the show. Interestingly Tim said (to the camera…not the cast) that he hopes that Austin does not pick Amanda since he is pompous and she deserves better. Tim talks to Piper and asks how she feels, and she says that she does not know. Tim really seems confused by how nuts Bryce was…and said at times he wondered if everyone else was in on some sort of joke. The camera flashes to the writers and shows them with an amused look on their faces. Austin then goes on to say that he hopes that she picks him. They now blink over to Amanda giving a toast saying "may the best man for Piper and the best woman for Austin win."

Now the four remaining contestants (Tim, Amanda, TJ, Ingrid) are brought together and told that two of them will be eliminated. They will be picked up by limousines. If the limousine that they are told to go to has Austin or Piper in it, then they will be going to the next stage. We now see Tim and Amanda setting in the limousines alone figuring that they were eliminated. Amanda said that she had a great time and is ready to go home. Tim said pretty much the same thing. The all the sudden a screen comes down in Tim's limo and Piper pops out. They hug and talk to each other for a bit. They show then blinks back to Amanda's limo, where she seems rather upset. Of course Austin pops out as well (by the way the limos…particularly Amanda's look really gaudy). I love the part when Tim says that he can't believe they would be so masochistic to play such a joke on someone (I think he meant sadistic). The look on Piper's face was classic…since they are playing an even stranger trick on them. They are now told that Piper and Austin will be spending time with the families of Amanda and Tim. They are told that Tim and Amanda will not be there. Once Austin and Piper are gone, Tim and Amanda will be disguised as "Tom and Amy" so they can see how Austin and Piper will act around other people. Amanda really looks like a new person…with very large yet "perky" breasts. Tim looks like Tim with shaggy hair and a goatee. Tim and Amanda really seem to love the idea of playing a joke on Austin and Piper.

We now see the exciting dinner with Tim, his brother, and a friend of his. Tim talks to his brother and friend for a while, telling them about the insane stuff that has happen. They said that when they were told that they were supposed to come out to a show that Tim was on, people told them that Tim was likely coming out of the closet, but they said "no, not Tim." Piper now walks in and the host does the introductions. Piper asks a bunch of questions including how many people did Tim sleep with. She brings up the fact that Tim dated a stripper, his brother (or friend, I am not sure which) said "I don't think it was a relationship." After dinner the host comes and says that he is taking the "rose" out of the garden and leads Piper away.

It is now time for dinner with Amanda's mom and friend. Amanda's mom did not recognize her, but her friend did. They laugh for a bit, and then Austin comes out. Austin pointed at the mom and said "you're the sister." Earning him the affection of her mother right off the bat. He asks if Amanda is a party girl and her friend does. Austin said he was here for love and if he asked if he proposed how long till she could answer. They all seemed shocked…and the mom took a deep drink of wine. Her friend then said, I just don't want Amanda to be hurt at the end. This is rather sad, since of course the show is going to end with Amanda finding out that this is all fake. Then the entire group gets together outside. Tim's family thought Austin was a pompous ass…since he introduced himself as Austin Newton Rice. They then played a game of shuttlecock, which led Tim (still disguised as Tom) to say "he said cock." Amanda fell down during the game, and when Austin helped her up he noticed that her face was peeling off. He said, what is this? Then she admitted that she was really Amanda. At that point Piper went over to Tim and the host said, yes that is Tim. They all had a laugh, and Austin told Amanda that she did not even look like Amanda (she thanked him for that).

They now show Amanda and Tim sitting next to each other amazed that this is the last day. When Austin and Piper walk in, Tim turns to Amanda and said "Damn she's beautiful." The host comes out and reminds that them Austin can decide between Piper and Amanda. Piper chooses between Austin and Tim. He then said that if Tim or Amanda are chosen, they then have to choose if they are going to accept the choice. It is now time for a falcon twist. They tie a fake falcon to the hosts arm, and group is told to look at it when the falcon is supposed to fly in. Tim asks if the stuffed falcon is the old falcon (Montecore). The host assures him that it is not. Once they are done the host said "can someone get this off my arm?" Shaking it since he could not get it off. Tim said "I love reality TV." They now tell Austin and Piper that Tim and Amanda are playing for 100,000 each in addition to trying to win the love of Piper and Austin.

Tim and Amanda have private time with Austin and Piper. Piper asks Tim about it and he said he never cared about the money. Austin seems a bit creeped out, but Amanda said that if it came down to a choice between Austin and the money, she would choose Austin.

Tim actually said he was planning on giving the money to charity. He said he was in it for the experience, not for the money. He said that it has been the time of his life, and thanked her for being who she is. He really just acted like it did not matter one way or another.

We now see a group meeting with all the actors. Rhett (the exec producer) tells them that once the reveal happens, they will be out of character, so they don't need to worry about it anymore. They can comfort Tim and Amanda, or duck any punches that come their way.

Tim and Amanda talk and seem a bit worried…but not any more worried than the cast.

We see Austin and Piper outside, Tim and Amanda join them. Now we see the rest of the cast (all the people who have been voted off) walk down a set of stairs, joining them. Amanda then says "I know her. She is a comedian in LA." I am fairly sure she was referring to Ritta (the drunk) Played by Natasha Leggero . They all tense up, and Austin's jaw drops, but the host tries to pretend it did not happen. The host starts the final speech…at this point Amanda starts laughing. They move on like Amanda had not said anything, fortunately, Tim does not seem to notice. Austin gives a speech to Amanda saying how great she was…BUT says that he had 4 years with Piper and they were compatible BUT he wants to build time with her BUT He feels that he would be empty with Piper BUT he wants to build a future with Amanda BUT Piper is his present past and future. The host then said "just to clarify, did you choose Piper" Austin said yes.

Piper then says that things were great with Austin, BUT things were new and fresh with Tim BUT she had a history with Austin, BUT Tim has been her lighthouse and had cleared her vision and had made her realize that she belonged with Austin. Tim said no hard feelings…smiles.

The host then said that Austin and Piper could now get married. They acted rather confused and unsure…but the host said that they would each get $100,000. All this time, Amanda still just seems amused. Austin and Piper then agreed and the host said to bring out the "parents." Of course they did not announce which set of parents the actors were playing this time, and no one mentioned that only one set of parents came out. The host then said that if anyone had any reason why these people should not be married, to come forward. All the sudden we hear Bryce's (stalker) voice screaming "WAIT"

Tim looks shocked and pissed…and for the first time since she recognized the comedian, Amanda looks shocked as well.

When Bryce runs out "Piper said, holy shit" Tim said "Can I punch him" Bryce then said that Austin was fake that he was an actor so he should not marry Piper. He then went on to say that Piper was an actor and everyone on the show were also actors. The host then said that if there are any actors raise your hand. Bryce raised his hand but no one else did. Tim said "great job guy" thinking that Bryce had made a fool of himself yet again. Then all of the sudden the rest of the cast slowly raised their hands. Tim looked shocked for a bit, but then said "Jackpot" and started laughing. Amanda actually seemed shocked as well. They took it rather well. Tim really seemed very funny. They are then told that they get all the vacations and $100,000 each. Tim then turns to the actresses and says "You know I am single now." Amanda asks if Tim is really from DC, he jokingly told her now I am fake too and laughed. They are told that there is yet another falcon twist. Both of them groaned, and Tim jokingly said "Yep, it is that I am gay" The actor that played Gerald then said "Yes, and I am not" They all laughed at that and the host then said that one of actors was a contestant at the start and asked if they knew who it was. Amanda pointed at Ingrid, and the host said that yes Ingrid started out as a contestant but questioned everything. The host then told Ingrid that she gets the vacation that she thought she lost to Ambrosia (the bitch) and gave her the $100,000

Tim seems really amused that the show was about him. Amanda said she feels like an idiot, and groans "joe schmo" Tim thought it was funny that everyone was applauding. He thought "what did I do?" He thanked them for the memories. Tim said that he felt a bit betrayed since there was some deceit. He said he hoped that they were chosen because they were like the characters since they touched him. The host asked them where they money would go and Tim said charity and his nieces. Amanda said her nieces and nephews and she would use it so she would not have to work 3 jobs. Tim seems a bit upset at Piper.

They now show a video where the cast tells Tim and Amanda how great they are.

Piper actually felt really bad and started crying and she apologized. She really looked very torn up. Tim was very nice and started comforting her and said it is alright. Tim said that she is great, and so is everyone here. Tim asked to give a toast. Tim then said that he had a blast and that he had the best birthday of his life. He told them how great they were and that he hoped they were paid well, and if they weren't they should get a raise. He also told Piper she was beautiful several times. Ernie gave Tim and shirt that said "Tee Dubbs" (his nickname). Tim said thanks, and said it was the time of his life.

--------

Wow, this was an amazing show. I really would love to see a follow up to see how things are going with Tim and Amanda a few months after the show.

This episode did start a bit slow. I thought they did a little bit to much review of the previous episodes, but I guess they wanted to make sure that everyone was on the same page.

I liked the first new scene with Tim and Amanda. Since they are the only real people on the show, it is interesting to see them interact. This is something that would not have worked as well if they had kept Ingrid as a real person, since every interaction would worry them that Ingrid would share her suspicions with Tim. Both Amanda and Tim seem very genuine, and it is good to see them interact. I also thought it was great when Austin came in and Tim acted rather pissed at him. Tim clearly does not like Austin at all. I also thought it was rather nice how Tim said that he hoped Austin did not pick Amanda, since she was a great girl and she deserved better than him.

I thought the big reveal about the money was a bit cheesy and felt a little awkward, particularly with the Amanda/Austin dyad. I can't put my finger on exactly what bothered me, but it just seemed a bit forced. The Tim/Piper dyad seemed a bit less forced, though I think this is mostly because Tim just seemed nonchalant about it.

I loved the fact that Tim said that sometimes it all felt like one big joke…since it was. I also thought it was funny when he pointed out that the show was masochistic (meaning sadistic) in making him think he was eliminated when Piper was hiding behind the screen in the limo. Even better was the look on Piper's face when he said it. Where in the world did they find those tacky limos? Zebra stripes? Even worse, in Amanda's limo there were all kinds of strange scifi looking things. It looked like a Borg Cube or something.

I thought the dinner's were funny as well. I did not think they did as good of a job at disguising Tim as they did disguising Amanda…but since they really did not have to fool anyone, I guess it did not matter. Tim's brother and friend seemed really funny, and I thought the dinner went really well. Though nothing can compare to the reactions that they got when Austin mentioned marriage. That was just hilarious. I busted out laughing when Amanda's mom picked up her glass and took a huge gulp.

The fake falcon twist was hilarious as well. Having that ugly looking stuffed falcon on the host's arm was great. Even better was when Tim wanted to make sure that it was not Montecore. While it might have been funny if the host had said yes, that might have pushed things a bit too far.

Ah, the final eviction ceremony. I really thought Amanda had figured it out when she recognized one of the cast members as a comedian from LA. They kept showing clips of her laughing…and I really thought she had completely figured it out. I guess she was laughing at the absurdity of a comedian being on one of these shows…and not suspecting it was fake though, since she really seemed shocked when the big reveal happened.

While perhaps Piper and Austin's final speeches with all the buts was a bit much, they could afford to be over the top since it was near the end of the show. Even if the speeches and the subsequent decision to marry seemed a bit odd, nothing could compare to Bryce's entry. I thought Tim's reaction was priceless. "Can I hit him?" It would have been interesting to see what they would have done if Tim had just charged Bryce. Then came Bryce's speech. Tim at first thought Bryce was simply a jackass…and then when everyone raised their hands the look on his face was priceless. Then of course the line that I am sure they will be using in future promos "Jackpot." When Amanda acted amazed, I was rather shocked. I really thought she would laugh and say that when she recognized one of the old cast members she figured it out. I guess she didn't. It would be interesting if they had asked her in the post show wrap up what she thought. Maybe they will do a think like they did with Joe Schmo 1 and have a special later on where they sit the Schmo's down and ask them questions about their experiences.

I liked the wrap up, but I really wish it would have been longer. I would have liked to see Amanda and Tim interact with the cast a bit more now that they know they are real. I also think it would have been interesting to see how Amanda would have reacted if Tim had not been real. She really seemed to be more upset than him…but tempered her reaction a bit when she saw how he was holding up. Tim on the other hand seemed a lot like Matt from Joe Schmo 1. He just thought it was a blast. Of course he seemed a bit upset that Piper was not real (even though he hid it well), but he still comforted Valerie Azlynn (The actress that played Piper) when she started crying over how bad she felt over tricking him. She really seemed to have been affected the most of anyone. It is rather funny that it is one of the actresses, not one of the schmos that is broken up the most about the show. I honestly wonder if she had started to feel something for Tim, and that led to her being upset. I'd like to see if they end up together after the show. Now wouldn't that make a great twist?

All in all, I LOVED the show. I really hope that they do decide to do a special down the road giving us more information about Tim and Amanda. I'd like to get more reactions from them about how the show has changed them once they have some perspective on what has happened. I also wonder if they will do some other work with Spike TV like Matt did. I also think they should have Tim and Amanda do the talk show circuit. While Joe Schmo might not be as big as CSI, I think Leno and Letterman could give them some time on the air. Hell, they have people who do stupid tricks and such.

Overall, I think it has been a great show, and I really hope we will see a Joe Schmo 3. If they do end up doing a Joe Schmo 3 I will post the info over at the Message board, and at the random reviews main page.

It has been great reviewing Joe Schmo 2. Thank you all for coming by this blog every week to see my thoughts on the show. I'd also like to thank the people who have left comments on the blog, sent me messages of encouragement, or posted on the message board. I hope you will stick around and check out some of my reviews this fall season. I will do in depth recaps and reviews (same format as this) for Smallville, Enterprise and Las Vegas. I also plan on doing mini reviews of a few other shows over at the message board. If there are other shows that you would like mini reviews of, post a request over at the board and I will add it to my list if it is one of the shows that I watch. If I decide to recap and review additional TV shows I will post that info at the random reviews main page, and on the message board.

Thanks again!

Good afternoon, Good evening, and Goodnight.

Joe Schmo 2 Episode 8

Previously on Joe Schmo. We are reminded that Bryce (Stalker) came back and found that the frog was dead. We were also reminded that Tim (real guy) was evicted, which upset Piper.

Like usual there is a gathering with writers. They are reminded of the danger of going out of character like Bryce and TJ did…and told how things can end quickly.

Ingrid (schmo turned actress) talks with Amanda (real girl) about Cammy (moron) and how dumb she is. Amanda does not really seem to like the conversation. Tim (evicted real guy) talks about the eviction and how he feels about it. He pointed out that it was Austin (bachelor) not Piper who kicked him off. He said that if Piper wanted to call him than she could get his number from the producers. He said he had a great time, and did not regret anything.

They all talk about how they missed Tim and are puzzled by a cop showing up.

The host comes into Tim's room and said that one of the male suitors was kicked off the show for a rules violation and asked if he would want to return to the show. Tim of course says yes and the host says he will see him back at the house.

They cut back to the house where we see the cast still talking about Tim, he really was popular. All of the sudden a plane flies by with a banner that says "My Irish eyes are still smiling -TDubbs" The cast seems to enjoy this, and Amanda claps her hands and says that she loved the guy (referring to Tim).

All of the sudden Tim shows back up. The cast seems very happy…all except for Bryce. The host comes in and says he has disturbing news. The host said that the trailer had been broken into and the falcon was killed. He then asks if Bryce has anything to say. Tim said "Did you kill the f*cking bird." The host said that they have video tape of Bryce leaving the house and going to the trailer. Bryce said he left the house because he was thirsty. Bryce said he wanted to talk to Piper, but the host said that no it was not Piper's decision it was the producers decision. Bryce argues some more and refuses to leave. Tim tosses around some swear words and Amanda tries to calm him down worried that he will push Bryce further. The host tells Bryce that he will take him to Piper, so that Bryce will agree to leave. The cast then hears Bryce screaming and yelling and acting like a lunatic. The cast seems to be freaked out, and Tim and Amanda laugh at the insanity of his alibi (leaving the house to get water). Tim has a "I told you so" attitude, while Amanda seems to be really freaked out.

They come back after commercial. They say that they will have to fake the falcon twist. Amusingly they "over act" the first fake falcon fly in, so the host asks them to try again. TJ points out that he his not an actor, so how is he supposed to know how to act. LOL! Amanda points out that the host seems upset and Tim responds that he is sure that the host is pissed off. The falcon twist is that two people will be evicted tonight. They will be combining the pearl necklace and flame of love evictions. We now have a nice tribute to Montecore the falcon.

It is now time for another contest. They have to make a pottery sculpture "ala ghost" Tim was sad to get matched with Cammy (moron) who is not all that coordinated. The tallest one wins the right to be closest to Austin and Piper for the group date. TJ (Player) and Ingrid win with 9.5 inches. They are told that they will all be chained together for the group date, but that Ingrid and TJ will be chained closer to Austin and Piper than anyone else.

Their first activity is dancing lessons. They bring in a very goofy dance instructor. They do all kinds of really gay dances. Of course TJ has diarrhea, but they are not allowed to unchain themselves. He runs to the bathroom with them all in tow…with poor Piper chained closest to him. They all talk about how bad it smells. We see the actor pouring liquid into a toilet and spraying some fart spray. TJ then comes out of the bathroom for another round of dancing. Unfortunately he has another attack of diarrhea and has to make another dash to the toilet. We repeat the same process as last time. However this time it turns out that TJ didn't quite make it and has to change his underwear. When they go up they find that Gerald's (gay guy) aqua socks are in TJ's drawer. They have a conflict and they are unchained. TJ said that it was just a joke, but Gerald is very upset since without his aqua socks over the past 4 days, he has not been able to shower (he does not like germs). So they decide to settle it with a dance off. They will dance and the girls will vote who is the best. The looser will have to quit the game. They both talk trash about what great dancers they are…and Gerald points out that he has the 20th anniversary edition of the flash dance DVD.

Amusingly Gerald decides to wear his aqua socks in the dance. LOL, Tim thinks this is insane, and wonders if everyone is in on some joke. TJ break dances, and Gerald tries a dirty dancing/flash dance type of thing…with some disco mixed in. Tim said that Gerald was very "sensitive" in his dance. Gerald ends up winning the contest. Tim asked if they had ever been in a dance off before, and Gerald said "Ya, I am like 7-0" This really seems to amuse Tim.

It is now time for the double trouble eviction ceremony. After another cheesy speech by the host, the ladies are given a chance to make their pleas. Amanda comes off as cute and peppy, Cammy as dumb, and Ingrid as a bit cheesy. Austin stands their for a while, clearly not wanting to evict anyone. After much thought he evicts Cammy. He tells Cammy that he is sorry. She gives a nice speech while fighting off tears and manages to screw up a popular saying. She says "if it doesn't kill you, your not dead"

It is now time for Piper to choose. She tells them all that they have made the decision very hard. She ends up eliminating Gerald…who blows out TJ's wick and says that they had a dance off and that the decision was made. The host says that the dance off was not a sanctioned event and that TJ does not have to be bound by it. TJ said that he changed his mind since Gerald would not let it go. Piper said that she just did not feel like she was the right "person" for Gerald but they can still be blonde buddies which seems to mollify him. He then has a nice exit scene and looks over at Austin who smiles. Once Gerald has left, the rest of them are told that it is time for the most shocking falcon twist yet. The cast is told that not only do they have to compete against each other, but that Piper and Austin are trying to decide whether they want to start up their old relationship.

We are also told that the two hour season finale will be next Tuesday (August 10, 2004) at 9:00pm

----------

While this episode does not quite live up to the last one, it was a lot of fun. They continued to make Ingrid a gossip, with her talk about Cammy. Amanda seemed uncomfortable with the gossip, but did not want to tell Ingrid to shut up.

Tim's return was great. I really laughed at the banner, since Tim did say that he would use a banner if he was kicked off (making fun of Bryce). Having Bryce's killing of the falcon be the reason for Tim's return was great as well. I thought the cast did an excellent job of acting. Poor Amanda seemed to be very upset, and Tim was very pissed off. While Tim may not be Matt, he does make a great Joe Schmo…Amanda was really glad when he came back…so he clearly is making friends.

The dancing and the diarrhea might have been rather cheesy, but even if he was potty humor, it was rather funny. Having them all chained together added a spin on a common joke. And of course the dance off was hilarious. I was not completely sure about how they got themselves unchained for the dance off, but it was funny nevertheless. Maybe they pushed it a bit to far…but it is near the end of the show so they can afford to get nutty. This was the first time that Tim actually thought things were a bit strange. It was funny when he asked if there was something that everyone but him is in on.

The eviction ceremony was funny as well. I loved Cammy's "If it doesn't kill you then you are not dead." It is always funny to hear people mangle well known sayings. For those who think it unbelievable that someone could mangle such a well known saying, I actually know a girl who has said "Your plan is like Swiss cheese, you put it on and it just doesn't work."

I was actually rather surprised at Gerald's eviction. I honestly thought that they would go by the dance off and TJ would bow out. Though I suppose that it is within the character of TJ to want to stay with Piper if he possibly could. I was really amused at the goofy nature of Gerald when he blew out the candle, and then Piper's speech about how she was not the right "person" for Gerald…choosing not to say "woman." I really wonder if they are planning on having Gerald end up with Austin or some strange twist like that.

Well, that's all until next week. Come back here for analysis of the two hour season finale. Also, if you wish to talk about the episode, or other TV shows please stop by the message board I have started up. While it is small now if even a few of the hundreds of people that stop by the page join the forums we can get quite a good discussion going: Message Board

Joe Schmo 2 episode 7

We are reminded that Bryce is a psycho, the frog died, and Eleanore (weepy girl) told Austin (bachelor) to shove the pearl necklace up his ass.

Like usual we start out with the writers. Basically we are told that it is going well and Piper (Bachlorette) and Austin (Bachalor) are told not to pay to much attention to Tim and Amanda so they don't get their hearts broken.

TJ (player) brings up the porked and beans video. Cammy wants to know where he heard it from, but he just said it was a rumor that was going around. Tim actually acts like he had never heard of it even though Ingrid told him about it last week. It seemed that he was trying to be nice and hide the fact that he had heard the rumor as well.

Bryce (stalker) is back! A plane flies by with the message "look behind you" and Bryce shows up. Tim does not look pleased. The host said that Bryce was able to come back since Austin was able to bring Ingrid back and Piper wanted Bryce back since he tried so hard. Tim (real guy) and TJ (Player) decide that if either of them get kicked off they will get a bigger plane and banner (Tim's idea). Tim clearly thinks the fact that Bryce is back is very messed up. TJ warns Tim not to bring up the dead frog in front of Bryce, Tim agrees that telling Bryce would be a bad idea.

They are now told that they have a contest to see who gets to spend some alone time. They have to serenade Austin and Piper. Gerald sings a dippy song rather poorly. Tim reads a cheesy poem where he says he would like to see her show up in a teddy. TJ raps with some explicit and sexual lyrics. We cut away to Amanda where she says that TG is very sexual. Amanda then does an awkward cheer. Bryce said that he watched a video on early communication of man and this is how they would communicate their love "AHHHHHHH" Basically he screams as loud as he can and then climbs up the balcony to touch her hand. Tim is very creeped out. Ingrid paints a picture of Tim with her toes while she reads the preamble to the USA constitution. Cammy makes balloon animals…or balloon things. She of course does it in a sexual way. Then she decides to make a balloon Everett (frog) which makes everyone suck in their breath. Bryce then says "Now both Piper and Austin have a Everett." Austin chooses Cammy (moron) and Piper chooses TJ (player).

They are all sitting around the dinner table where Amanda does an impersonation of the host. Cammy impersonates TJ, Bryce and Gerald impersonate each other…getting a bit hostile (nothing like an impersonation of the lisp). Tim and TJ tried to guess Cammy and Ingrid's breast sizes, TJ of course gets it right. The host now says that TJ ordered some desert…porked and beans. Tim said that it was the biggest "tingle" ever (he says that he will explain "tingle" later). Ingrid asks him if his bathroom will get some use later. Tim can't believe that someone has such an insane fetish. Ingrid gets up and walks by and steps on the balloon Everett. Everyone jumps and Ingrid said oops, I stepped on Everett. People start laughing…but try not to, and Bryce looks…intense.

The host says that TJ and Cammy will be able to go on their one on one dates. TJ and Cammy get ready for their dates and are told that the rest of the group would be watching the date on TV and giving advice. They also will be able to give "advice" through an ear piece.

During TJ and Piper's date Bryce kept telling TJ to get his hands off of her. Cammy says to tells him to tell Piper that she looks like a classy porn star. She also has him talking about having to pee.

Now it is Cammy's turn for a date. They make her says some goofy things involving his package. She even brings up TJ, and Eleanor's pearl necklace. They then have her ask him if he prefers a bright mind or a great body. He says a bright mind, but fortunately she has a bright mind and a great body. They then have Cammy say "you are sweet, but you are full of shit."

They now then have to sit down and tell Bryce that Everett is dead. Bryce is very upset. He asks how it happened and Tim said the falcon. Bryce is then told about the donut. TJ said birds eat frogs, who cares. Bryce said it was not a frog it was a human being. TJ and Bryce start yelling and shoving each other. Tim breaks them up and Bryce walks up stairs. Tim hollers up at at Bryce and tries to comfort him. Tim said he can't believe he fell into the drama trap…but Amanda said that she was great.

TJ, Gerald, and Bryce then go up to their room to "hash it out." Since Tim was not there with them, they broke character and started laughing and screwing around. Tim of course chose that time to wonder in the room (it looked like he was with someone that worked on the show). The actors were worried that they had blown it…but TJ quickly covered by telling Tim that they had worked things out, and everything was cool now.

It is now time for the eviction ceremony. When the host and the falcon come in Bryce looks pissed off and stairs down the falcon. The host tells the guys to put down their candles. They are told that Piper will not be evicting anyone as planned, this time Austin will evict a guy. The lines they used are great. Bryce of course gives a creepy speech saying that there is nothing that him or Piper could do to keep them apart. Gerald sounds a bit gay saying that there is nothing that he would like more than a pearl necklace from Austin. TJ actually tells Austin that he can reach places in Piper that Austin could never reach. Tim really does not know what to say.

Tim was eliminated. Austin says that he feels that Tim and Piper are not very well connected. Piper looks very upset and has tears in her eyes. Tim said that he had a great time and made some great friends. He then says goodbye to the cast. The host tries to get Tim to shut up and leave, but Tim shuts him down and says he will take as long as he wants. He then talks to the cast some more…and the host reminds him that Austin has spoken. Tim says that he is saying goodbye and he will say goodbye to the host later. Tim then gives a last goodbye to everyone and leaves. Piper gets really upset and storms out and swears.

--------

Another great episode.

I thought the first scene with the writers was interesting. They pointed out that since this was fake, they don't want Austin or Piper to get the real people to attached to them…since they don't want to break any hearts when the show ends. That makes sense, and is probably why they don't make the show longer than 13 days.

The scene where TJ confronted Cammy about the porked and beans porn was funny as well. It was nice how Tim pretended that he had not heard about it so Cammy did not know how far it had spread.

Bryce's return was great. Tim was a real trooper, he tried to be nice when he was talking to Bryce, but he clearly was creeped out. Of course the contest where they had to serenade the bachelor and bachelorette was great as well.

The dates were very funny. Some of the things they made TJ and Cammy say were priceless. Tim seemed to get really pissed at the stuff they made TJ say. They seem to really be forming a friendship. Perhaps nothing like the Matt/Brian friendship from last year but they do seem to be bonding.

I really loved the Everett reveal. Tim's line that Everett did not really get eaten, he just got into a fight and lost. They came close to screwing up when the dropped out of character later…but it worked out in the end.

And of course there was the shocking eviction ceremony. I was really very surprised that Tim was voted out. It was a great scene though, and Tim handled himself very well. He was very gracious and did not flip out, but he did not let the host push him out the door either. I thought Piper's acting was very good as well. She just sat in the corner and let tears fall when Austin said that Tim was being kicked out. She did not overdo it, but she made it clear that she was not happy. She then was clearly pissed as she left. It will be interesting to see the fallout next week.

I don't go into details about the previews for the following week in my reviews…but I will just say that it looks great. I can't wait to see the fallout from what happened this week…as well as to see Bryce's antics.

Joe Schmo 2 Episode 6

It is time for yet another week of Joe Schmo

We are teased about the fact that someone will die (who last week I predicted would be the frog), and then we go into the character introductions. By know you all know the characters, so I don’t feel the need to list them all.

We start with a writers meeting. They basically say everything is going great…but don’t give us other info.

The crew starts out by the pool. Tim (real guy) and Amanda (new real girl) were wonder if Ingrid (Schmo turned actress) lied or not. Amanda still thinks that Ingrid was telling the truth. The host then comes out and tells them that Austin (Bachelor) screwed up and talked to the maternal grandfather, not the paternal grandfather who really died. They said that Austin felt really bad and wanted to bring Ingrid back. The host then said “We are glad that your grandfather is dead and you are back into the game” He then admitted that this came out wrong. Tim seems to think it seems odd that Austin would simply hang up without getting all of the info when he talked to the grandfather.

Now Bryce gives another message…he has a flying banner that says “did you get my last message?” Tim (real guy) is disgusted, but Piper (Bachelorette) seems to think it is cute.

Now they have to film a infomercial (to make fun of product placement in reality TV shows). Amusingly the exercise things they are supposed to film the ads for kept breaking. Of course Gerald (gay guy) oiled up Tim.

Ingrid then pulled Tim aside and told him about Cammy’s (the moron) porn. He was very amused.

Now it is time for a falcon twist. We are told that Austin and Piper used to be a couple. Their relationship went from the loveboat to the sinking of the titanic. The girls seemed to get upset…Amanda seemed a bit weirded out by it, but it was not all that big of a deal. Tim didn’t seem to mind at all. He seemed to find it rather funny.

We are now told that the frog was going to meet his end, though the cast mates have not been told yet. Instead the cast is going to ‘make the moves’ on life-size dolls that look like Austin and Piper. The winner gets a private date. TJ (the player) starts licking the dolls toes. Amanda acts nice as does Tim. Gerald asks like a ‘girlfriend’ (Tim’s words not mine). Cammy offers a 3 way, and then starts undressing Austin. Eleanor tries to act sweet, but it looked like a train wreck. It was one of those things that you have to see. “We don’t have to get married, right away…but we could. We could have gets, but not right away…unless you want to.” And so forth, basically she acted like she didn’t know what she wanted, but would do anything for Austin. Amusingly Tim said that it would take a talented actress to act that way…but that Eleanor was doing it naturally. Amanda also seemed to feel bad for Eleanor. Piper chooses Tim for the date, and Austin chooses Amanda. Poor Eleanor seems very sad, she puts on a smile and claps but she seems very sad. Austin asks if she is ok, she says that she is fine but is holding back tears. They then have a huge deal where she apologizes to Amanda. She then points out that Ingrid told her something about Amanda being mad about some earlier offence. It was not really clear what that was all about, but it had something to do with Cammy. Austin tries to be nice, and pulls out the coupon book and says he will use a coupon, but she noticed that one was missing. It turns out that him and Cammy used the massage coupon. She flips out and starts bawling. Tim tries to comfort her while Gerald and TJ give us the play by play of what happened. Amanda runs off to the bathroom, clearly upset about what has happed. Ingrid follows, pointing out that this really is very funny. Amanda does admit that the situation would be funny if Eleanor was not so upset…but she feels bad at how hurt Eleanor is. Eleanor then comes in and apologizes for creating such a scene. They then have a talk where Eleanor has a heart to heart with the girls saying that she gets that way with guys, and she really should stop…but she can’t help it. Amanda says (to us) that Eleanor is a catch, but she just does not realize it.

It is now time for the double date with Tim/Piper and Austin/Amanda. Piper and Austin have a little sniping back and forth. Piper points out that Cammy is rather dumb. Austin and Piper fight a bit, Amanda and Tim try to smooth things over. The fight keeps going and it gets very awkward. Piper and Austin then go outside to talk things out. Tim and Amanda then are just like “OK” and try to have a conversation. The couple comes back in where Piper then takes Tim outside to talk alone. Tim and Amanda ask if they are over each other. Piper and Austin talk about quitting the show, but Tim and Amanda sooth them independently. So both of them think they saved the show. Piper apologized to everyone, then they all do some shots, and drink some beer.

We are now back with the group, and Amanda tells them all how much fun she has had and thanks them. The cast are now told that the falcon killed the frog. Cammy said that they should all say something nice about the frog…but Tim pointed out that it was just a frog. Ingrid points out that they should respect Cammy’s wishes and they have a moment of silence. Tim still makes fun of the idea though. Of course they all wonder what Bryce will say.

It is now time for the pearl necklace ceremony. The girls are all dressed up, Eleanor looks especially nice. The girls all pleed. Ingrid says that they have been through a lot, including a first fight, she would like to stay. Eleanor says that he knows how she feels by now. Amanda said that she has a great time, and that he should go with his gut feelings. Cammy says that she has had a great time…and of course brings up the foot massage. She also thinks he is better looking than the doll. She closes by saying, if you could give me a pearl necklace, I really need on.

<>Interestingly Eleanor is the first to get a pearl necklace. She then said that promises were made, but the only alone time she got was with Eleanor. She said that she has learned from her other friends on the show that she is a beautiful girl and that there are plenty of guys who would like to spend time with her. She says that he can take his pearl necklace and the locket (which she rips off her neck) and shove them up his ass. She hugs all the girls, and they seem proud of her and she walks out the door. Austin seems very flustered…particularly when the host says he must make it official and give pearl necklaces to all of the remaining girls. He does it, but things seem very awkward. The host closes out with a nice speech about how you can never be sure of anything. The cast (and the real people) seem amazed. Amanda said she that she is so proud of Eleanor. Tim said that got more out of the last 3 minutes than anything else in the show. Tim said that they all got pearl necklaces, but if they want another he will be upstairs.

---

All I have to say is WOW. This episode was amazing. Eleanor (real name Jessica Makinson) was unbelievable. I don’t think I have seen such acting before. Her scene with the dolls was touching. She made you feel bad for her, it could have looked fake or awkward, but the actress really made it seem real. Then of course came her rejection, when Austin chose Amanda instead of Eleanor. Crying on cue is tough enough…but when you have to look like you are holding back tears to put on a good face, wow. She then closed out her performance on the show with a stunning rejection of the pearl necklace. She really sounded like a woman who had learned something about herself, and was a better person because of it. Hell, I was cheering for her and I knew it was fake. I sure hope this show helps her career, because after tonight’s performance…she deserves to be successful.

As for the writing…I have thought there were glitches in the writing in the past. Any doubts I have had were washed away tonight. The way the writers not only wrote the story, but were able to get the real people in the show to do as they wished (ie: Tim and Amanda in the Austin/Piper fight scene) was masterfully done. I was also very impressed by Eleanor’s storyline. They gave the right actress a really tough role, and she pulled it off. I think it really caused an emotional moment with the Schmo’s, particularly with Amanda. Of course I was sad to see Eleanor go…since I thought she was a very strong character (due to the great acting) but if she had to go, this was the way to do it.

I also liked the way they brought Ingrid back. At times she does not seem completely comfortable in her new role, but her interactions with Tim and Amanda are spot on. It seems that the writers are trying to drive a bit of a wedge between Amanda and Ingrid though. While Amanda did speak up for Ingrid when Ingrid was ‘wrongly evicted’ there has been some tension in the past. We know that Amanda did not appreciate the fact that Ingrid gossiped about Cammy’s video. In addition, when Eleanor was upset she mentioned that Ingrid had told her that Amanda was mad at her. Amanda did not seem to appreciate this, but that moment of tension was mostly washed away by the insane circumstances. Finally, the writers had Ingrid come of as insensitive about Eleanor’s plight. Knowing that Amanda seems to be very sensitive, that is bound to rub her the wrong way in the long term. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the future.

Overall, tonight’s episode was unbelievably amazing. Both the writing, and the acting blew me away. It was funny that the main thing the focused on in the previews was the ‘death.’ As I assumed last week, the death turned out to be the frog. Strangely, they just seemed to toss that plot point into the end of the episode (well, near the end…it was right before the eviction ceremony). Of course, it seems like the death of the frog will play a much bigger role next week (judging by the previews).

Well, until next week, I am off. I hope you enjoyed both the show, and the review.

Joe Schmo 2 episode 5

We start out by reviewing the previous episodes. Ingrid was of course flipped, Pipers parents visited, and Bryce was eliminated. We are also reminded that Bryce can be rather creepy…and may be back.

We even get a new opening credits (since Ingrid is now an actress)

They start out with a meeting with the actors and writers which includes Ingrid (the girl who figured it out). They talk about how things are going well, and then go onto the show.

At the start the guys have to vote on which guy is least compatible with Piper (Bachellorette), and the girls say which girls is least compatible with Austin (Bachelor). My guess is they are trying to set something up with the whole Gerald thing (gay guy). While the votes were being counted the actors and real people were talking. Tim (real guy) suddenly said that Eleanor (weepy girl) that she sounded like the band girl from American Pie. Eleanor took is as an Tim saying that she was a band geek. He tried to backtrack saying that it was just a voice, and it was no big deal (and then tried to say he could have said she sounded like his aunt, which upset her even more since that made her think he was saying she sounded old). Tim found this all to be rather silly, and was annoyed that she was so sensitive.

As expected Gerald won the vote as the least compatible with Piper, and Eleanor won the vote as the least compatible with Austin. Gerald acted surprised and Eleanor acted upset. However, Eleanor was really excited when they found out that the people who were voted as least compatible got some alone time with Austin/Piper.

Now it is time for another falcon twist. Nothing like the “grim reaper of change” to darken a day. The falcon flew in but then the host got a call on his ear piece. They announced that Ingrid’s (the girl who figured it out) grandfather died. For those who are worried the grandfather thing was just something that the show made up…it was just a plot point, not something that really happened to her. The host then said that Austin wanted to take Ingrid out instead of Eleanor since her grandfather died. Eleanor agreed but looked very sad. We saw her crying, and Tim tried to comfort her saying that Christmas was not canceled, it was just postponed.

While the crew was sitting out talking a plane flew by with a message from Bryce (evicted stalker guy). The message said “P please forgive me –B” Half of the people said that it was sweet, the other half said it was creepy. Piper acted like she felt bad for getting rid of him, but Tim told her she made the right choice (he did try to hypnotize her after all.)

It is now time for another contest. If they win they will get a trip to Mexico. They have to compete with models. One person was not allowed to compete, so Gerald (gay guy) volunteered to be a cheerleader instead of a competitor. The first people are Ingrid and Eleanor. They had to pop balloons of the models (while the models tried to pop theirs). Of course Tim was a good cheerer as well. Nothing like “between her legs, between her legs” to motivate someone to win.

The next contest you had to turn a light switch on and off with your tongue. Of course they made it look very obscene. The light switch looked like a tongue poking out from a pair of lips…but it was held at the waist level. Poor Amanda (new real girl) had to do that one, and said she was very embarrassed, and was not quite sure why she was doing it. Even worse the models won so she did it for nothing.

In the next game Tim had a hard monitor on and Cammy had to try to raise his heart rate. She basically started talking as dirty as possible. Tim said that it was as dirty as he had ever heard. She then gave him a lap dance (which Tim referred to as being ridden like a bull). Amanda (the new real girl) really thought it was funny. At the end the host said that’s it, Cammy responded “I’m done” and the host said “so am I” Next up the models had to try the game. Amanda said that they “knew each other well and knew how to get their heard rates up” Sadly it was blurred out so we could not see what happened, though it was implied that they got rather frisky. Tim said that perhaps he and Cammy should have made out to up his heart rate a bit more.

Now the girls get to meet Austin’s parents. Amanda said that she would be on her best behavior without changing herself at all. Austin’s dad was talking about how great he is. While his mom seemed rather reserved and not wanting to be there but the dad was a party guy. Interestingly the same actors that played Pipers parents play Austin’s parents. We hear a bit of Austin’s dad conversation with Amanda. Part of it included “well when you see her big bazoombas you think…” Amanda did not quite know what to do with that one.

Like the guys the girls get tasks to do. Amanda has to get Austin’s dad to tell the story of his first time…she seems blown way by that, but at least she does not have to sit on his lap and call him daddy (like Eleanor), use the word Fellatio in three sentences like Ingrid (sound familiar?), or have Austin’s mother take a body shot off of her like Cammy.

Now it is time for dinner. Austin’s dad made a toast for the ladies. Ingrid did quite a good job fitting it in, and so did Eleanor (though she looked a bit awkward). Cammy bursts out with lets do shots. She tells the parents what a body shot was. His mom declined, but the dad said he would do it. He sounded very glad to help…and enjoyed it quite a bit. Amanda even tried to help by placing a glass on Cammy and drank out of it. Austin’s mom still would not do it…but complained that the dad was a bit to good at it. Austin’s dad started talking like a lecher which really pissed of the mom. He even used the phrase “if there was not AIDS what do you think we would all be using” He also pointed out that his wife was not his first and points out who is first was. Amanda seemed to be very embarrassed but was glad to have her task done. She brought up the body shot thing again to help out Cammy, but the mom still declined. Of course the dad did another one. Since Cammy was the only one that failed her secret was given away. They showed a scene from “porked and beans” Amanda was very upset that this happened and went over to comfort Cammy. The host says that he is sorry that they all had to see it...on such a small TV. That line pissed of Amanda even more. She seems to be rather offended by the crude nature of the show at this point.

We now see yet another pearl necklace eviction ceremony. We hear yet another cheesy line, and the girls are given a chance to talk. Cammy does not want to say anything since she gets in trouble when she opens her mouth. Eleanor says that she is looking forward to the chance to have alone time with him. Amanda says she wants to get to know him. Ingrid says that that the previous night was very tough (sympathy vote) and says that he was very kind to her and that she appreciates it and that he is a type of person her grandfather would have wanted for her. Ingrid is eliminated. Austin says that some people will do anything to win. She said that she speaks for herself and her dead grandfather in saying that she is disappointed. Tim actually looked upset as well, I guess they had formed a sort of bond. Once Ingrid left, Austin told the group that Ingrid lied about her grandfather. He said that he found out by calling her home and that a grandfather answered. Amanda pointed out that her mothers dad lived with her it was her dads dad that died. Austin had a shocked look on his face (I guess they were not expecting that one). He said that he thought she only had one grandfather. Amanda said that maybe she was wrong, but she was rather sure she was right. I don’t think they were expecting this, but Austin turned out to look like the ass rather than Ingrid.

---------

Well, this was quite an episode. I was actually not sure about Amanda before tonight. When they introduced her last week she simply did not have much spark. I thought Ingrid made a much better Jane Schmo. After tonight I like Amanda quite a lot more. She might not be as attractive as Ingrid, but she is very nice. Last week we saw that she does not like gossip, and this week we saw her try to help Cammy on her task…and then get very upset when Cammy’s porn film was shown. Speaking of Cammy’s porn film, that thing was creepy as hell. A girl rolling around in a tub of beans and hotdogs. I guess that is why it was called porked and beans.

It was disappointing that they did not move Gerald’s story forward very much. He is a very funny actor, and really all they did was point out that the guys felt that he was least compatable with Piper. Of course that was to be expected, but it would have been funny to see more reactions to the vote. Having Ingrid’s grandfather die seemed to be in poor taste, but I guess that is what the show is about…and judging from the previews next week will go to an all new level in poor taste.

I did think the Bryce flyby was VERY funny. The reactions of the cast were great. Tim of course thought it was creepy (he never really approved of Bryce) and Amanda did not quite know what to think. They talked a bit more about the frog and how it might be kicking the bucket soon. Actually, on further thought I think the death of the frog is going to be the twist that they were talking about in the previews for next week.

The contests were very funny. Tim still seems to be having a great time, but like Ingrid Amanda is not to sure about these contests. Of course part of that could be that she is a girl and does not get into obscene games as much as a guy would.

I also thought the visit with Austin’s parents was great. As I mentioned in the descriptions the same actors played both sets of parents (they were able to do this since the different genders met the parents separately). I think the actors that played the parents did an amazing job. If it was real I would have found Austin’s dad to be a real ass, but knowing it was fake had me laughing the entire time. Poor Amanda did not quite know what to do. She really showed that she was a sweet person in trying to help out Cammy..both in the contest, and after Cammy’s video was shown.

As for the eviction. I was actually very disappointed that Ingrid got voted out. I think she had done a great job so far, and it seemed odd that they would get rid of her so soon after the flip. She put a little reality into the show as she was not over the top. As I am sure my regular readers would suspect, I would have preferred seeing Cammy go. While she is an attractive actress, and she did a far better job this week than in previous shows, she is just a little to far over the top for me. I do understand that over the top is where the writers want the show…but she just seems to be a lot further out than any of the guys. I just really think the show would be better with more Ingrid, and Elanore is to entertaining to vote off. Of course to be fair, I do see that Amanda and Cammy seem to have a sort of connection (mostly do to the fact that Amanda seems to pity Cammy) so the writers may want to take advantage of that in future shows. As for the thing with Ingrid’s grandfather, I wonder if they planned for Amanda to find out that Ingrid had another set of grandparents living with her. They did mention previously that she had talked about grandparents. Of course it is possible that they wanted Amanda to support Ingrid and make Austin look like an ass…though it might not have been expected since they did not seem to get along last week (since Amanda felt that Ingrid was a gossip). Maybe next week Austin will admit that he made a mistake and bring her back. It will be interesting to see what the writers have to say about it in their commentary.

I really think this show is turning out quite well. While it does not have near the same feeling as the last show…it is still very very funny. The host is great, and the actors are really fitting into their roles. I do wish that the season was longer than 10 episodes since it would be great to be able to see more of the character interactions. We have seen almost no interaction between the bachelor and bachelorette and the other characters. Really the main time we see them together is at the eviction ceremony. I really can’t wait to see what they are going to pull next week.

Joe Schmo 2 episode 4

This episode starts out where the last one left off, at the eviction ceremony. Ambrosia (the bitch) is evicted because Austin says that people have said that she is a f**king bitch. Ambrosia gives a speech about how the show sucks…and the Host responded pointing out all the mistakes that have happened…and told Ingrid (real girl) that yes the show really is fake. She is then offered a job as an actress, and she accepts the job. They cut to the writers trailer where she is prepped and told to tone down her questioning of the show.

It is now time for another falcon twist. The falcon flies in, nearly taking off Tim’s head. The twist is that the show will be bringing someone else in. Austin (bachelor) and Piper (bachelorette) are told that there is a guy behind one door and a girl behind another door. They are told that they have to decide together which door to choose and that will determine if a guy or a girl is added. We are told that the writers are doing this so that they can add another girl who does not know what is going on so that Ingrid can be replaced as Jane Schmo since she is now an actress.

They choose a door, and the new real girl is Amanda. She is told that the boys are after Piper and the girls are after Austin. Ingrid tells us that she is nervous, but excited that she gets to be in on the joke. Amanda (new real girl) seems to recognize Ingrid from casting. Tim (real guy) is impressed by the new girl’s outgoing nature. They now start a game called bangers and mash. A girl in a swimsuit is covered by mashed potatoes and hot dogs They have to dig through the mashed potatoes for hot dogs (aka “bangers”). They then put the hot dogs into other people’s buns. If you get a hotdog in your bun you are eliminated. We are told that this would be used as their first way to get a feel for Amanda. Gerald (this is he gay guy) wins the contest. He gets a vacation prize, and is able to choose to spend some private time with either Piper or Austin. Gerald thinks about it for a few seconds, prompting some awkward laughs from some of the other people…but eventually chooses Piper.

The girls are now going to have a group date with Austin. Amanda is excited, and said that Austin has a good sense of humor is important.

The boys are not having the same amount of fun. They have to meet Pipers dad. Piper’s dad put the fear of god into the boys. He even asked Tim if he was sexually active. Back with the girls, Ingrid tells Amanda about Cammy’s (dumb blonde) porn video. Interestingly, this makes it so Amanda decides that Ingrid is not trustworthy. Amanda tells us that if Cammy wanted her to know, then Cammy would have told her. They now cut back to the guys and a “naughty nurse” shows up to dance for the boys. Of course they did it when Piper’s dad was still there. Talk about your awkward moments. After Piper’s dad leaves the boys are told that when they have dinner with Piper’s parents, they each have a task to do. TJ (the player) must kiss Piper’s mom on the lips, Gerald must tell how he lost his virginity, Bryce (the stalker) must stick his tongue in Piper’s ear, and Tim must use the word cunnillingus in 3 sentences. We now cut over to dinner, where TJ does kiss Piper’s mom, but the others did not do their tasks…even though they teased Tim about using his word. They now are having “secrets” for failing in your task. They reveal that Gerald has dressed as a girl, Bryce tried to hypnotize Ingrid, and they showed the scene from last week where Tim gave Gerald a lap dance. The guys all try to explain what they did…but Piper’s dad was not amused.

They now meet with Piper’s dad where he is going to give them a lie detector test. Piper’s dad acts really pissed at TJ for kissing his wife. Bryce ends up passing their tests, though TJ does not. We find out that Gerald does not want to have sex with Piper. They also asked him if of all the girls if he was most attracted to Piper, he replied “of all the girls? Yes.” This suggested that he may be more attracted to the guys. It was also amusing that he lied in order to hide the fact that he does not want to have sex with Piper. Tim seemed amused by this. We find out that Tim is intimidated by Piper’s dad, he would have a problem with Piper wanting to wait until marriage, he has cheated on a girl, but on the positive side he would give a kidney to save her dad if needed. Piper’s parents then say that they have decided to give Gerald immunity to eviction since he is least likely to take advantage of her.

Now at the eviction ceremony. They get a chance to plead their cases, where Bryce recites a cheesy poem. Gerald (while he was immune) gave a quick speech saying how her mom was great…and made him feel like her daughter. TJ says that Piper’s mom his hot, while Tim says that he wants to keep getting to know her.

Bryce is eliminated, which freaks him out. He gets all kinds of weird facial expressions. Piper then says that they simply don’t have chemistry. He flips out crying and going on about how much he cared about her. He then asks if he can hug her, to which she agrees. Amanda has tears in her eyes, as she really seems to feel bad for him (as she has not gotten to know him) but no one else really seems to be bothered.

---

Well, we are out one stalker. Strangely the episode was not 90 minutes long as we were promised last week, but it was still good. Flipping Ingrid was a good idea. She was getting to suspicious, and they risked loosing Tim as well. While I will miss her questions about the show…I think making her an actress was a good idea. And she gets 100,000 out of it if she is able to go for the whole show without giving it away (though that is more than Cammy was able to do). Adding a new girl was a good idea as well, since this way they can keep the Austin storyline going. I have not really gotten a feel for Amanda yet, since there was not much time dedicated to her, but she seems to be alright.

The scenes with Piper’s dad were great. He did a great job of being freaky…and they question about whether Tim was sexually active was funny. Sadly, Tim will not be winning the hearts of Americans like Matt did last season. Admitting that he would have a problem with Piper choosing to wait until marriage to have sex takes away from his “nice guy” points.

I wonder what happened to the scene with Matt Gould from last year? Maybe that was in the 30 minutes that were cut out.

Bryce’s eviction made sense, as he was getting rather creepy, however I don’t think the actor did all that great of a job in the eviction ceremony. This really surprised me since he had done a great job in everything up until now. I just don’t think he did a great job at crying…it just did not seem quite natural.
